moving my domain from comcast - unable to edit

I've followed the instructions in various posts/replies to transfer my domain. The domain is registered through Comcast

When I click on "DOMAIN NAMES" in the Manage Website section, i do NOT see "EDIT WEBSITE". Instead I see a link for edit DNS.

Domain Name Product Type Action(s)

my domain.comMore InfoEdit DNS

We have email and ISP through comcast. We want to move the domain.

What do i need to do to enable EDIT WEBSITE?

Thanks,

Hello webstone,

Welcome to the forum.
To make any changes to your Comcast hosted domain, please use the following steps.

1.Sign into the Business Class Portal as a Primary Manager and select Websites tab from the Manage Services menu.
2.Select the Manage website link from the menu of the left side to load the Sitecontrol window.
3.Select the Domain Name link under Manage Services to load the Domain Names page.
4.Click Edit to the right of the domain to be transferred.
5.The Domain Summary screen will load.
6.Select the Advanced DNS settings.

  • The Auth Info Code and Domain Lock status are shown on this screen.
  • Note the Auth Info Code so that the customer can provide it to their desired registrar.
  • If the Domain Lock Status shows Locked, click edit to disable the lock.
  • Once the lock is disabled, the customer can provide the Auth Info Code to their desired registrar who will then complete the registration transfer.

Thank you

I selected the Websites tab

I selected the Manage website link

i selected the Domain Name Link in the control panel

Under Domanin Names i see the domain, product type (link to more info), Actions (link to edit DNS)

When i click the product type link "web hosting" is displayed. We do not have a website.

I click the edit DNS link and go to Advanced DNS Settings. On that page I see:

What are advanced DNS Records?

The DNS (Domain Name System) records control the functionality of domain names. Each registered domain name has a DNS record that includes MX, A, and CNAME records and name servers.

Note:Please be aware that there can be up to 4 hours before you see the changes made here. Also, be aware that if you need to edit again, it will be 4 hours before the new change takes effect. Note that incorrect DNS changes can interfere with the operation of your website and/or email. Comcast does not take responsibility for the problems arising from inaccurate DNS edits.

If you need to reset your original DNS settings, the IP address of the web server that your account is on is 216.87.186.xx

There is no Domain Name registered with Comcast that points to this web site. If you wish to point a domain name (registered through another company) to this web site, please make sure to use the following name servers:

Below that i can "Add a New Resource Record" and I can see "Current Resource Record(s): You are using 12 DNS records."

The Auth Info Code and Domain Lock Status are NOT displayed.

We do not have a website but we do have a domain registered through comcast and email through comcast.

What am I missing?

thx,

Webstone

The "A" and "CNAME" records point to the domain and to an IP address

advanced dns settings comcast.JPG

If I delete the "A" and "CNAME" records, will I then be able to follow these instructions:

4.Click Edit to the right of the domain to be transferred.
5.The Domain Summary screen will load.

6.Select the Advanced DNS settings.

  • The Auth Info Code and Domain Lock status are shown on this screen.
  • Note the Auth Info Code so that the customer can provide it to their desired registrar.
  • If the Domain Lock Status shows Locked, click edit to disable the lock.
  • Once the lock is disabled, the customer can provide the Auth Info Code to their desired registrar who will then complete the registration transfer.

Would I also need to delete the "NS" records (adns.cs.siteprotect.com and bdns.cs.siteprotect.com)?

Webstone,

Based on this post your domain may be a part of our "legacy" domain.

Can you send me your domain information to me via private message?

Thank you

Webstone,

Thank you for the message and information.

As we have discussed, your domain is on our legacy domain server.

To move/transfer your domain either send us your "new" host's information or contact our technical support immediate assistance.

Thank you
