How do I get static IPs to work? Help, please :)
Hi,
Have an SMC 8014, and a /29 from comcast.
Testing with a mac behind the gateway, set to one of the assigned static IPs, and nothing is working.
gw is .174 (set properly on the mac). The mac can ping the gw pub IP, and the gw can poing the static IP .169 I set the mac to.
But, can't ping from the mac to outside, or outside to mac.
I've been working on this for a few hours with no success.
All I want to do, is have a few static IPs (non-NAT'd) behind the SMC, with a few inbound ports and icmp enabled.
How the heck do I do that?
Thanks,
Dave

Got outbound port 80 to work.
Nothing works inbound yet, and port 25 outbound doesn't work. Isn't smtp supposed to be unblocked (both ways) for comcast biz accounts?

the fix: comcast allocated me a /29 from a different /8. Looks like the original netblock has connectivity issues with multiple providers.
