E-Mail domain

I have an internet domain name. I also have an E-Mail through another ISP which I used when I set up my Comcast account (not on my domain).

I am interested in hosting my domain for E-Mail through Comcast, but NOT for web serving. I can't find any instructions that don't place primary emphasis on web hosting. I'm presently registered with Go Daddy, and don't necessarily want to change who my registrar is. I know how to assign MX records, etc.

1. It doesn't appear to me that I can create an E-Mail account on Comcast since I give a third party E-Mail address as my contact point. That doesn't make sense to me. It would appear that the first step to using my domain on Comcast would be to create an E-Mail account. Once this is set up and working, I might use that E-Mail address as my point of contact, but right now that would be counterproductive, as I'm not set up to monitor it.

2. It isn't obvious whether I can use my domain without transferring Comcast to be the registrant, and without making Comcast the host for the website. I want the website to stay on my server, I only want E-Mail to go to Comcast.

3. I am not opposed to the fact that this would be an Exchange account, provided it is compatible with my needs. I have little experience with exchange. I presently am using mostly IMAP. I have one exchange account, so the readers would have to work properly with multiple simultaneous exchange servers. Microsoft, in my limited past experience doesn't always know anything other than themselves exists. It would have to work simultaneously with my IMAP and POP3 accounts. And it would have to work with all my computers, running various versions of Outlook, Outlook Express and Android 2.3.4 (I'm not sure if it supports Exchange). Can all of this be done?

I reviewed all of the documents listed and it did help, but I still have two or three questions:

1. My Droid X does not have a MAPI/Exchange option. I just created a dummy account to try it. The screens look quite a bit different than what is shown on the tutorial. I suspect that this may have been added with Ice Cream Sandwich or later version that is not available for Droid X. I can (am presently) use IMAP. But can I use IMAP for my Android and MAPI for Outlook on my desktop computers? Or do they all have to use the same protocol? Obviously IMAP won't give me calendar, etc. But that isn't my primary concern on the phone.

2. When I signed up for on-line access with Comcast, I used my existing E-Mail address. It isn't obvious to me how to now get an exchange server E-Mail account from Comcast. Do I re-do the sign up, forcimg me to use that as the contact address? That's not the end of the world, but I'm trying to make this transition one step at a time. I'd prefer to leave the contact address in place until I have the new account on all my devices, since it is my billing account and I don't want to miss any notifications, etc. This is all going on in spare time running a busy company so steps can be days apart.

3. The process is still a bit fuzzy. Whatever the answer to Q2 above, is that going to be xxx@comcast.net and then a cname alias through my DNS provider, or do I set up the MX record stuff and create it as my domain on Comcast right from the start?

Some of this may be more obvious once I'm doing it, but from where I am I don't see the next step to start down (and I'm a computer professional!)
