Very frustrated with ETF and moving out of the country

At this point I basically feel lied to by Comcast multiple times.

A little over a year ago I had called to see if I had a contract still with Comcast since I wanted to change my services. I was told on the phone that I did not have one anymore. I then decided to drop the phone part of my service and just do internet and went ahead and got a cell phone to use instead and had the number transferred over. I then found out that I did have a contract and Comcast wanted a few thousand dollars in ETF but that I could avoid that if I signed another internet contract that was longer.

The problem is that I am also a student and knew that I would be graduating in about a year and had no idea where in the world I would be. I was assured that was not a problem because the ETF did not apply if I moved outside the service area. I will be moving to Germany for  a Master's degree and Phd to work on making drugs more available and cheaper for people (like cancer drugs) and when I called to have the account terminated I was told that I would have to pay the ETF since moving outside the service area did not qualify.

I was originally told that moving outside the service area qualified for termination with cause. However on the phone I am now told that is not the case at all. Basically I feel lied to at this point several times by people that represent Comcast. From what I can find out now I should NEVER talk to Comcast under any circumstances unless I record every conversation and make sure everything is put in writing. I have never had this problem with any other company and I just don't see what my options are at this point.

Does anyone have any ideas on who I could talk to about this to get it dealt with? I have run into a few people that have said since the account is for my business and not personal and since my business does not use any credit of any kind that I should just move and ignore the debt but that just seems wrong to me even though I have been lied to repeatedly.

I had never intended to have this company in the first place. It was pretty much handed to me when my business partner died and dealing with it is a pretty major problem.
