Transferring Business to Residential

I am trying to switch my business account to a residential account, as my business did not end up panning out. I am moving as well, so now feels like a good time to take care of this.  I spoke with a rep and they cannot seem to do this, and we're trying to force me to stay with a business account, which I do not want to do.  The reasons are below:

1) I would have to pay another $199 installation fee, which is bonkers. Residential customers get free install, why would BUSINESS class customers not. I am paying more for business comparitively to residential, so why am I being charged for something that requires no action from you? I literally have to move my modem, screw in 1 cable, plug in another, then call you with the MAC address to white list it from my location.

3) The representative was able to tell me that if I'm just switching from business to residential, i need to pay an early termination fee. And advised that if I DO have to pay it will be upwards of $1500.

I would appreciate a reply that makes sense. I understand I signed a contract, are you not the same company? I have no problem honoring that contract if I am moved to a residential account. I do not need the extra "features" of a business account any longer.

Hi stafebak and thank you for reaching out about the conversion to a residential account. While residential accounts usually have an install fee if the location is not eligible for a self-install, I'd be glad to look into the rest of this; in some areas it's possible to simply convert and in others the ETF would apply.
