POP3 & SMTP port numbers

My comcast.net e-mail has started to malfunction on Outlook. This has been happening intermittently for about 4 years. I have spoken with Comcast technician, Isobel, who told me that it is a known issue related to the compatibility of Comcast e-mail settings with Outlook settings and that Comcast is working on it. Last week, it was outgoing SMTP mail that was not working. Now it is both SMTP and POP3 incoming mail that is not working. When I call Comcast Business Support 90% of the time, the ambassador does not know what port numbers are and tells me that they do not support Outlook and I should call Microsoft (which I have done many times). 10% of the time, I am put through to the "Technical Department" and I speak with someone who knows exactly what the port numbers are., like Isobel, mentioned above. If anyone has experienced the same, please let me know if you have found a solution. Thanks.
