Comcast Policies and Selling Phone Numbers
I signed up for Comcast Business Internet and Phone. Had the phone service hooked up and operating for less than a week before I disconnected the phone line. I called and requested a 'net-new' number based on the amount of telemarketer calls we were receiving, I mean it was insane. I was given a new phone number, and I have never given or used this phone number as I wanted to wait before giving it out.
So, a few months later and I have an average of 300 incoming calls logged on the line, ALL UNSOLICITED. I called again and asked about whether they sell their customers phone numbers. I was told that they are listed in their 'directory'. I asked if I could not be listed in their 'directory' and was told 'sure, that will be $2.00 per month'. Really? So, not only do I have a phone line I'm paying for every month that is utterly useless due to the large number of unsolicited calls, but if I want to be able to use it, I have to pay extra? I'm paying $25/month for the phone service and another $13 for 'equipment fee' for something I can't even use. There are so many unsolicited calls that I turned off the ringers. I don't want to make outbound calls on it either because I don't want anyone attempting to call me back on that number. Maybe you can run comcast on terrible customer service, but that's not how I choose to run mine.

Just don't bundle, they did the same thing to me. The number was unuseable for 2 years and they claim no responsibility.
Welcome to customer no service.

I feel your pain! I was experencing th same issue and it was so annoying. I had not given my number to anyone becuase I only signed up for voice to get a lower installation cost. I had to turn my ringer off because of all the unsolicited phone calls.
