When Comcast internet goes down, so does my wireless printer and devices?
Comcast Cisco DPC3939B. Serves DHCP. Has both wifi and ethernet router and is modem also.
I've had different router's before with a wifi printer or wifi device connected when internet is up and obviously works fine. And when just the internet went down, all my wifi devices still worked on the network. So I could print etc as if internet wasn't in the picture.
But now, I have this businews Cisco router mentioned above. Now each and every time Comcast goes down for whatever reason, I loose all wifi network connectivity between my wifi devices and print etc until internet comes back up?
I assume this may be a setting on the router that needs to be changed to allow my wifi devices to connect normally even when internet down? Maybe DNS settings? I am not sure.

When you say that "the internet goes out", do you mean that the Cisco device reboots, all of the lights go out, and the startup sequence begins again? If so, then I imagine that the gateway is disabling/re-enabling WiFi as part of the reboot procedure. Keep in mind that the gateway should rarely reboot on its own; if it's doing it more than once every few months or so, then it may be failing.
I will state my usual recommendation that you use a separate router in between your LAN and the Comcast gateway; this gives you more control over your network, and would help avoid issues like this.

Yeah i agree... but I was sure hoping this modem/router/wifi would have just done the job without this kind of problem. Now it sounds like I need to add my own router... just 1 more point of failure in the whole setup... but sounds like the comcast stuff is nothing but failure. : /
I mean when all of a sudden without notice, Comcast's internet service just drops. When that happens, anything connected to the comcast router (3939b) also does NOT work. I.e. the network wifi printer. So we cannot print until Comcast brings internet back up. It just doesn't seem right that our entire internal Lan goes down just because the external Wan goes down. Really stops our business for no good reason. Our internal Lan shoukd work just fine when Wan down. It did before this router all in one. Last setup was just a standalone cable modem with my own wifi Asus router.
