uploading large files causes Gateway to hang

I have a very annoying issue, I created a script that backs up some large files (multiple files with 5 GB) to the cloud. And the upload speed are fine without affecting download speed much but after uploading 2 or 3 of these files, the gateway just hangs and not accesisble at all and of course internet is down. the only solution is to disconnecting the gateway only (the modem doesn't have any issue) and plug it back and it takes about 15 minutes to recover and internet comes back. Also I noticed that the gateway gets very hot when this happens. It is in a climate controlled server with dedicated AC unit.

we have Comcast Wifi Gateway (Cisco DPC3939B)  with DOCSIS  v2.3.10.13_5.5.0.5  and Firmware DPC3939B_3.9p6s3_PROD_sey behind ARRIS modem

I am looking for either a solution for current Gateway or list of compatible gateways that we can get ourselves.
