Speed Checks?
I know that, for consumer services, Comcast looks at upload traffic and will reduce bandwidth if they determine it to be excessive.
Does the same happen for business? We have upgraded to a business account so that we could use cloud backup services. We are seeing huge swings in bandwidth and are wondering if this is happening on Comcast's end.
Thank you!

Depending on your tier and when you signed up, you might be noticing Power Boost. My representative informed me that the lower two tiers (at the time, last year) had Power Boost enabled. It was normal for my speeds to go from 60/30 down to exactly 12/2 after sustained tranfers either way. You shouldn't see your aggregate bandwidth dropping below your contracted rates, but it is normal to see a drop in speed (from the Boost to your contracted rate) after a certain amount of time. If this doesn't seem like your case, could you provide a few examples? Thanks!

You know, I'm not sure what my speeds are, now that you ask. The backup utility (Crashplan) reports wilidly high rates of transfer at first (like 200Mbps) and then, after about 5 min, drops down to 1.5 Mbps.
A utiliyt in my menu bar does not report rates that fast.

Thank you for your prompt response. By "bandwidth limit" do you mean a limit on total bandwidth consumed? I know residential has that and commercial does not. Are you also saying that there are no speed adjustments based on bandwidth currently being consumed?
