Passthrough mode access later.

Since I am having a very hard time trying to figure out how to make a udm pro Wireguard Vpn work through the double nat. If I put the router in pass through mode, I assume I am going to lose access to the comcast router? And if that happens is there a way for me to re access it through a direct connection to change it back if this does not work?

Hello @user_fce4df, thank you for taking the time to reach out on social media.

When you put your UDM Pro into passthrough mode on a Comcast router, you're effectively turning off the routing functions of the Comcast device, which can indeed lead to losing access to it remotely. However, you can still access the Comcast router directly if needed. Here’s how to manage it:

  1. Accessing the Comcast Router:

    • Before enabling passthrough, make sure you know the local IP address of the Comcast router (typically something like 192.168.1.1).
    • You can always connect a computer directly to the Comcast router via Ethernet to access its settings.
  2. Changing to Passthrough Mode:

    • If you set the Comcast router to passthrough mode, your UDM Pro will take over the routing functions.
    • This means that devices will get their IP addresses from the UDM Pro instead of the Comcast router.
  3. Reverting Changes:

    • If you need to revert back to the original settings on the Comcast router, simply connect a device directly to it, and you should be able to log in using the admin credentials.
  4. Considerations:

    • When using passthrough mode, ensure you have the necessary configuration on your UDM Pro to handle the VPN and other networking tasks.
    • Make sure to note any important settings from the Comcast router before making changes, just in case you need to replicate them later.

If you’re unsure about any steps, it might help to check the manuals for both devices or reach out to customer support for guidance specific to your setup.
