Garble talk and dropped calls VOIP
This is the stats that my tech guy ran. Can anyone help us get the phones working again?
Per our phone conversation here are the ping statistics after approximately 5-10 minutes of pinging your current public IP.
Ping statistics for 73.166.86.40:
Packets: Sent = 483, Received = 481, Lost = 14 (2% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 69ms, Maximum = 2817ms, Average = 203ms
I noticed high spikes/packet loss correlating with times that the audio would cut out/garble on our call. An extended trace route shows that the packet loss happens on the last leg to your modem (see below), and this indicates there may be issues with the internal wiring to the modem.
7. 68.85.244.86 0.0% 1139 58.4 58.6 58.3 81.7 2.0
8. 68.85.254.210 0.0% 1138 58.6 58.4 58.3 61.2 0.2
9. 73.166.86.40 0.4% 1138 72.8 154.0 63.9 13886 867.6

That test indicates that saw a small burst of packet loss, which could easily degrade a VOIP call. Though, it also indicates that the loss is occurring between your local node and the modem. If you haven't, I'd recommend running over some of the tips listed here http://forums.businesshelp.comcast.com/t5/Connectivity/Connection-Troubleshooting-Tips/m-p/25861#U25861 and trying to get us some full inbound/outbound MTRs so we can diagnose the connection a bit better.
