Comcast Goes out when Power Does. I have a generator

We have been having some storms here in Memphis quite a bit. I lose power for a few hours at a time. I have a generator and battery backup. But as soon as the power goes. So does my connection to the internet. My main office a few miles away doesnt have this issue. They run for hours. How can I get comcast to check the batteries on their equipment.

i'm actually going to agree with you here - i do work for clients fairly consistently around the Nashville area, and i myself have a business class acount at my home as well. All of my and my clients equipment is on battery backup, which always works for our gear, yet every time there's a power outage, we lose connectivity as well; it happened during some recent storms here in the Nashville area. Even during brief several-second brownouts, all of our cable modems get knocked offline and re-initialize.

From my limited knowledge of cable systems, the pole amps, nodes, and CMTSs should have battery backups/generators, so i will echo this concern that apparently, they are not maintained in all areas. I realize that "business class" doesn't come with any guarantees of uptime (like, say, Metro Ethernet would), but still, i would think that Comcast should at least make sure their equipment can handle at least a few minutes of power outages.
