bad congestion on my node. please help!

I have been having network congestion issues for a couple months. We have 50 megabit business class and rarely get more than 10 megs down between 6pm and midnight. Sometimes as low as 5 megabits.  I have tried connecting machines directly to modem and techs have visited several times. They agreed with me that the problem is not on our end, that congestion is likely on our node. I have attached my signal levels and they appear to be fine. Phone customer service has no way of contacting the network divison and line techs haven't had luck escalating the issue even though they did mention it. I don't know what else to do, but I'm tired of paying $110 a month for 10mbit of internet.

Can anyone look into this? I will give you my exact address and more information if needed.

Remove your address from your post, best to not have that information floating around on a public forum.

As for your signal levels, they look good. If you aren't having any luck with the techs or line technicians your issue may need to be escalated internally. I imagine the line techs haven't escalated because they don't like escalating complaints without any evidence of an issue, and the local techs don't appear to have any real escalation point.

Have you had a ticket sent to level 2, yet? If not, you can call Comcast and ask that one be opened on your behalf.

to add to kraze 's input, if your node is truly congested, then Comcast will only upgrade/split it when absolutely necessary, which is something you unfortunately have no control over.

But to start off, are you using a router to test, and is that test being done wired or wirelessly?

I tested directly connected to the modem through wired ethernet with several laptops on different occasions. I did when one of the techs was here and we only got about 10 megs. We normally have a router that runs M0n0wall doing firewall, NAT, and DHCP for the network and several switches and wireless access points down the line. The M0n0wall router never goes about 5% cpu use, switches are gigabit, and AP's are Asus RT-N66u so I doubt its an issue from our side. The same setup ran 50+ megs down in the past with no issues.

I haven't gotten 50 megabits down in a couple weeks testing at random times. So if it is the node, it's probably overloaded for at least 75% of the day. I will try escalating the issue to level 2, but I was hoping to run into someone on the forums from Comcast that can assist.

yeah your equipment sounds fine. the only thing you might be able to do at this point is upgrade to the DPC3939B Cisco gateway. it can bond 16 downstream channels, and so MAY allow you more reliable speeds.
