Re-positioning the modem and router

I recently wanted to re-position the comcast business modem as well as my own wireless router to the second floor where I can get a better signal for my house. They are now placed in a corner of the first floor. My house is pre-wired and the second floor has a "center of wires" inside the laundary room which I think could be used to place the modem and router. Can I do it by myself?
