Cannot disable private wifi connections

Hello - I have two comcast routers, each providing both 2.4GHz and 5GHz private wifi networks.

So I have a total of *four* private wifi network SSIDs available from my routers.

I normally do not want private wifi enabled; I enable it on-demand for specific projects.

When I disable either private wifi (2.4GHz or 5GHz) on the local router web admin page, the wifi interfaces show up as disabled.

But...the SSID is still broadcast *and* - gulp! - I'm can actually connect to any of the private wifi networks.

This morning, I just went into https://business.comcast.com/myaccount/Secure/ManageServices/Internet/ManagePrivateWIFI/ and verified that the private wifi networks show up as "off".

Too bad that my local device just happily connected to one of these "disabled" wifi networks.

Ugh, what a disaster.
