How do I setup an after hours message for my personal voicemail?

I don't see a way to have an alternate message play on my personal voicemail when we are closed.  Or am I missing something basic?

thanks

Hello, @user_848f61! To set up an alternate greeting, please follow the below steps:

Greeting scheduler with alternate greeting

You can schedule an alternate greeting up to 90 seconds long that will play when your personal greeting isn't scheduled, after hours and on weekends.

If the scheduled greeting option is selected, the personal greeting will be played within the selected time frames and the alternate greeting will be played outside those selected time frames.

Example: If the personal greeting is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on the weekdays, then the alternate greeting will be played from 5:01pm to 8:59 am weekdays, and all day on weekends.

Set up an alternate greeting from the voicemail main menu

  1. Press 4 for personal options.
  2. Press 3 for the Greetings Menu.
  3. Press 5 to record an alternate greeting. Press # when you are finished recording.
  4. After recording your greeting, you will be prompted to review it. Once you have reviewed your greeting, press # to save your greeting or * to re-record.

How to schedule alternate greeting for the first time

  1. In the voicemail menu, press 6 to edit the schedule for the alternate greeting.
  2. Press 1 to update the greeting schedule if a schedule already exists.
    • If 1 is pressed and no alternate greeting is recorded, you will be prompted to record an alternate greeting by pressing 1 or cancel by selecting *.
    • If an alternate greeting is already recorded, you will be asked to set the weekday schedule start and stop times, if you want to have a normal greeting played during the entire day, press # during the first prompt to skip to weekend setup.
  3. Press 1 to establish the greeting if no greeting schedule is set. Times must be in three or four digits (815 = 8:15, 1245 = 12:45).
  4. AM or PM is selected after entering the time.
  5. Press 2 to enable or disable.

Stephanie,

Thanks.  I saw that  I do not have an option for 6 or 4 when I log into voicemail on my phone. (this key is not valid message) And when I am logged into the voiceedge portal, I do not see any options for scheduling my voicemail messages.  FYI, I am the admin for our service.  I'm actually trying to change the after hours messages for 3 extensions that we use as voicemail drops for 3 different departments. Is there a difference between business voiceedge and business voice?

thanks

@user_848f61, no worries! There is a difference between the phone services, but I can definitely take a look and help ensure we get alternate greetings set up for you. Can you please send over a Private Message with your full name to begin?

Steps to send a Private Message:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon or https://forums.businesshelp.comcast.com/peer-to-peer-chat
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Comcast Business" there
  • - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Comcast Business" from that list
  • - A "Comcast Business" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it"

I no longer work for Comcast.
