How can I configure like an old key telephone system

We need to have our BVE system do the following:

 

(1) ring three stations when someone calls the main telephone number, and let any one of the 3 stations answer

(2) put the call on hold

(3) pick up the call on any of the three stations

 

In case you don't recognize it, this is how office key systems used to work in the 70s. You'd put the call on hold, the line would blink, and someone could pick it up on another station by pushing the blinking line.

 

We are looking for a solution that doesn't require entering a facility code (*nn)

 

After extensive discussions with support, no one has been able to come up with a configuration for BVE that does this.

 

Does anyone here have a suggestion?

Here are a couple of options taht might work for what you're looking for. 

Option 1

 

If your main line calls are routed to a specific line (or seat), you could do SCA (Shared Call Appearance) of that line on the other 2 phones you mentioned. Then when a call comes into that line, all three phones will ring and the call can be answered (or picked up) from any of the 3 phones.

 

Option 2

 

If today your main line calls ring to a Hunt Group, you could set up the Hunt Group as Regular (sequential) ringing. Then do SCA of the other 2 lines involved, on each of the 3 phones. Then the incoming call can be answered on any of the 3 phones as the call rotates through the 3 lines.

Thanks for the quick reply.

 

I see that your option 1 or 2 would allow the call to be picked up on any phone, but if the phone that answers puts the call on hold, can the call be picked up by one of the other 2 phones?

Hello efreitag_hs,

 

Yes, lets say you have three lines set up on SCA, ( your line and two others) and a call comes in and you pick it up. Once you place that call on hold you can pick up that held call from the other lines where your call appears, in this example you would see that call on the other two lines in your SCA.
