Published my unpublished number

Hello...

I would like to know why my unpublished number has been published by Comcast?

I just recently setup new phone service and right from the start I requested an unpublished number. I was told that I have to pay a setup fee, and then an ongoing monthly fee to maintiain this unpublished listing. Ok, great...I accept.

However, within hours of the new number being active I started recieving calls. At first I figured it's a recycled number and that would be typical that for a short period of time you get a handful of calls for the previous people using that number. After a few days I figured I would answer a few of the calls and inform the people they have the wrong number. To my surprise though, they asked for me / my business. WTF?

So please, enlighten me on how if I didn't give out the number, and Comcast is being paid to not give it out, how it is now public knowledge? This is unexceptable!
