Phone line outgoing working- incoming says line has been disconnected

We just switched our phone lines a few months ago from Verizon to Comcast.  Everything went smooth and it seems like its all working properly until last Thursday 4/18/19.  The one line dedicated to a fax machine has capability to send faxes but when someone faxes to us, they are getting a recording  "The number you have dialed is no longer in service".  I called Comcast on Friday 4/19/19 around 2pm and reported it. The agent said it should be fixed within an hour.  As of today Tuesday 4/23/19 the issue has still not been resolved.  The answer I am getting is that Verizon reclaimed the number even tho Comcast has taken ownership of it.  Something about 3rd party ports, etc..technical terms I really don't understand.  From what i understand, what Verizon did is illegal and it should get resolved quickly.  Still nothing.  No updates, Crickets..............

Oh man. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your phone services. I appreciate you reaching out to us for help on our Comcast Business Support Forums though!

Please, click my name then select "Send this user a private message" on the right side of the window. I'll need your full name, address and, the phone number you're having issues with.

I'll need to take a look at the SPID (Service Profile Identifier) and make sure it's broadcasting correctly. I'll also need a couple of examples of the numbers that can't send faxes, if at all possible.
