Alarm system support

I have a comast voice/internet/tv service.

I have two alarm systems; fire and burglar. The fire panel communicates to the monitoring service via DTMF dialing and establishes a connection using a modem. The Comcast system seems to support it fine. We were recently told that we are on borrowed time, that telecoms were dropping the analog capability. Is that true? I was told I had to change my fire panel to use cellular, a big expense. I have resevations. Anything on this subject would be helpful.
