These are isolated cases. When our IPGWs are “hard” reset it will set it back to factory default.
Additionally in a “rare” case a firmware update will affect a unit. Both of these scenarios we can assist in resolving the access issues by password restore to default.

I, too, cannot log into the cable modem. Would you please reset the login/password? We do not have any paperwork about logging into the modem, except the 10-net IP and a customer ID (I think the handwritten password is what the box was installed with.)
I don't know how long we haven't been able to login (hadn't needed to).

In the rare firmware update cases, when you say affect a unit does that mean a complete administrative lockout situation for the customer? Don't tell anyone, but with my own network gear I've used the same password for about 15 years now. I forget a lot of passwords, but not that one. I checked with two other people who manage four separate comcast accounts between them... all locked out.
At least I don't feel so isolated anymore...

I recently had this same problem where my default login/pw no longer work on my modem. Can they be reset so I can login to my modem again please? Thank You so much!

Hello, I have reset my IPGW a couple of times now and the default username and password doesn't work. I guess I need it reset like everyone else.

This seems to be a pretty common problem -- rather than start a new thread, I will do a "me too" and ask that the default pw for cusadmin be restored on all three of our Business Class modems. Two of them were upgraded to faster service with a new modem just today, and I realized at that time that I could not get into the third anymore. I know I am using the correct password, as it autofills on my browser. Wasting far too much time on it thinking it was somehow my fault, I am disturbed to learn that many others had this issue after a recent firmware upgrade.
I was able to get into the two new modems today, but after changing the subnet on the LAN DHCP to match the way the other two were, my password no longer works and gives an "Access Deny" (sic) error when I put in the password it SHOULD be (in one case, I changed the cusadmin password and then changed the LAN subnet, and in the second, I left the default pw "highspeed" and both now give "Access Deny.") Note that on all three modems, if I do a nonsense password, it actually says "Incorrect Login"-- only when I do the password it should be does it give "Access Deny."
This is clearly some sort of Comcast configuration or firmware error that all these passwords are rendered "Access Deny". How do I get them all reset? I notice no one here gives you an account number, so you moderators are able to look up my account? If so, please reset all three. If not, let me know what info you need.

Welcome tschaps. The Comcast gateways password have been reset to the default. Please check you private message for additional details.

Router/cable password changed on me as well...
1. Will I lose my current settings if you fix? If so I would like to do at the close of business in a couple hours.
2. This seems to be a common issue in this forum is there a hotfix coming?
3. If I change the default password, is this subject to happen again?

Welcome Techno. We can reset the password to the defaults at anytime as it does not affect the configuration files. The password only changes when there is a factory reset on the gateway and or a firmware update. A power cycle on the gateway will clear the registers and buffer it does not clear the config files or the password.
