Closing business, told I would have to pay $1678 ETF fee to cancel service
I spoke to a termination rep this morning about canceling service due to business closure and was told I would still be obligated to pay an ETF. The Terms and Conditions clearly state under "ARTICLE 1 Definitions" that the charges are only applicable if Comcast terminates WITH cause or the customer terminates WITHOUT cause. Under section 5.2 (c) Termination for Cause applies in the case of the customer terminating due to close of business.
The rep quoted a $1678 ETF even though I am terminating my business.
I need some help getting my service cancelled and ETF charges waived due to business closure.

I would like to have my case escalated. I have notified the termination department that my business is closing (and they put the wrong reason on the request) and have signed a disconnect request (ticket can be made available privately). According to Section 5.2 Comcast has been notified of my business closure and been provided the 60 days notice required. I would like my ETF fees waived based on "Customer Termination with Cause" as outlined in section 5.2 of the terms and conditions agreed upon by both Comcast and myself. ARTICLE 1 Definition of Termination Fees specifically state fees are not applicable to "Customer Termination with Cause".
The T&C does not state termination of business as a termination without cause nor does it state it is of "convenience" as written to others in this forum. In no uncertain terms the termination of business is clearly a termination with cause on behalf of the customer. Consider this notice that Comcast is in violation of the agreed upon terms and conditions unless ETF fees are hereby waived.
Please escalate my issue and contact me immediately to resolve this T&C violation.
Sincerely,
Greg

This seems to be a very common issue. We are closing a business due to lack of business and the contract clearly states this is termination WITH CAUSE and that means no ETF yet when you read that clause they first say a lawyer needs to interpret it, then they try to say that means if you file bankruptcy but when you point out the wording lists bankruptcy, insolvency, closing, etc as seperate items, then they come back with you have to provide documentation of disolving the business with the state - when asked what clause states that the reply is just "because we say so" so the bottom line is they simply try to bully customers into paying the fees at any cost. Never mind that the temporary varience the city allowed Comcast to do an overhead install is about to expire. (and they have done nothing to address it) We'll be contacting the attorney generals office, WA utilities commission, FCC and city building department and I'm sure I can get an attorney to read the contract a draft a letter for a lot less than the $1558 ETF.
